Mr. Terry Haynes, City Councilman for Ward 2, will be sworn in for a new term at the City Council Meeting on April 13th. He was automatically re-elected for a term of four (4) years as no one filed to run against him. Mr. Haynes was elected President of the City Council during his past term and will remain in that capacity, filling in for Mayor Brinlee when he is unavailable. Mr. Haynes encourages all Wilburton residents to attend a monthly City Council meeting to be educated about the City's business.
Ms. Cindee Blankenship ran unopposed as the City Clerk-Treasurer; therefore, she will be sworn in for another four (4) years. The City Clerk-Treasurer's duties include a variety of duties to include paying of all claims, invoices, and payroll for the City of Wilburton; maintaining the City's historical documents; handling all permit applications; accepting all payments levied at the monthly City Court; managing all City grants; maintaining all records for the City Cemetery; filing all the required reports; ensuring all insurance policies remain up to date; and maintaining the budgets for each department. Yes, the job is a busy one.
