The Wilburton Recycling Center was given an award for having the "Most Innovative Program" in the State of Oklahoma. OG&E presented Cindi Cox, our Recycling Coordinator, the award on November 20th at the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful (KOB) 24th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards Celebration in Oklahoma City. There to share in the receipt of the award with Ms. Cox was Russell Halford, our Recycling Collector. The award was granted on the basis of the many projects both initiated and/or supported by Ms. Cox and her staff. This included joint projects with the State Park, the VFW, EOSC, Wilburton School System and other various local organizations and businesses.
Mayor Brinlee and the Wilburton City Council expressed their pride and gratitude in the program and Ms. Cox for her enthusiasm, her creativity, and her constant hard work. Examples of her projects include the painting of the VFW building, the Locker Clean Out at the end of the school year, and the competition with the communities west of Gowen Mountain to see who could collect the most recycling.... Wilburton won!
If you see Ms. Cox or Mr. Halford give them a great big Congratulations for their work. Stop by City Hall any time to see the plaque and the certificate.
