The Latimer County Christmas Stars Board announced the registration process is complete for the 2017 Christmas program. The "stars" are now hung on the Christmas Tree at the City Hall and are awaiting selection. The "stars" are the children of families who need assistance this year; residents in the two Latimer County group homes and two nursing homes who have no family; and adults with identified disabilities.
A "wish list" for each child or adult is hung on the tree. Any church, any organization, any business, or any resident is encouraged to visit the tree and "pick a Christmas Star" to ensure there will be Christmas for that person or family.
The Stars include sizes for each child/person for purchase of an outfit (shirt and pants), shoes, coat, and specific items on the wish list. The list also includes that child/person's favorite color to ensure the purchase is just the right item!
Your purchases are to be returned to City Hall by close of business Friday, December 8th (4:30pm), unwrapped. There are several wrapping sessions set up for that very purpose. Call 918-448-1391 if you want to assist with the gift wrapping.
The Latimer County program is unfunded and supported only by donations which can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall.
If you have any questions about the tree or the program, call one of the Latimer County Christmas Stars Board members: Lori Chrestman, 918-448-1124; Cara Rigsby, 918-448-1391; Tammy Duke, 641-431-1676; Maurice Hawthorne, 918-465-6968; or Jennifer Malone, 918-917-3162.
THANK YOU for your continued support.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
