City of Wilburton
Halloween 2020
The
Wilburton City Council addressed how best to keep the City safe during
Halloween with the COVID-19 Pandemic still going strong. With consideration for both the traditions
and the health safety of the residents in mind, the Council voted to cancel the
City sponsored Boo Bash and Boo Parade for 2020.
The City Council determined that Halloween
will occur and that each family should decide how best to protect their
family’s safety as well as carry on traditions. So, each home is to indicate if they are
participating in door-to-door Trick or Treat by turning on the front porch
light. If the resident leaves the light
off, Trick or Treaters are to pass that house up. Halloween is Saturday, October 31, and
hours to Trick or Treat are 5:00 to 8:00pm.
Mayor Brinlee stated that we must be
concerned with each individual’s health and make decisions that will protect
each citizen, especially in light of the rising number of positive cases within
our City. Hopefully this Pandemic will
end soon and we can resume our normal gathering practices; but for now, we must
use every means at our disposal to slow the spread of COVID-19.
