The
Wilburton Park and Recreation (P&R) Department will offer free swimming
lessons this year to
children
ages 2 years old and up. Thanks to Eastern Oklahoma State College, lessons will
take place in the
EOSC
indoor pool. The instructor and all lifeguards will be certified.
Toddler
Classes for children that are
potty
trained and ages 2 – 6 years will be held May 30, 31,
June 1, 2. The 2-3 years old class is from
1:00pm to
1:30 pm; 4-year old class will be from 1:30pm to 2:00pm; the 5-year old class
from 2:00 to
2:30pm; The
6-year-old class from 2:30 to 3:00pm. NOTE: A parent or
responsible adult must
accompany each child in the pool for “Toddler” classes. A
certificate will be awarded June 2 at the
end of each class. Parents are invited to attend. Class times are subject to change depending
on the
number of
children who register in each class.
Youth Classes for ages 7 and older will be
held May 30,
31, June 1, 2. and June 5-8. Class times for ages 7 & 8 years old Inexperienced
swimmers will be 3:00 to
3:30pm.
Class time for Experienced swimmers ages 7 & 8 years old will be 3:30 to
4:00pm. 9 years old
and older
inexperienced swimmers’ class will be 4:00 to 4:30pm. Experienced swimmers 9
years old and
older
will be taught 4:30 to 5:00pm. A certificate will be awarded on June 8 at the end of each
class.
Again, Class times are subject to change depending on the number of
children who register for each
class.
We have registration forms available at City Hall AND they can be downloaded on this website at the Parks & Recreation Department site. Due to limited class
sizes, we would
recommend
signing up early, this way we can determine how many classes we need to have. Class sizes
are limited
by American Red Cross standards.
