The severe weather, ice, and snow looming in Wilburton does not sound good for our area. I hope that everyone is prepared for what could be an ice storm causing driving hazards, power outages, and lack of ability to get groceries. If you live in an all electric home, it might be good to make arrangements to stay with close friends or family with gas heat.
I have issued an Executive Order to all Department Heads of the City placing them on standby in case we need to activate. The Street Department has sand and gravel chips and will do what they can with the streets.
Of course the BEST advice is to stay off of the roads unless you absolutely have to travel in an emergency situation. I and my assistant Lori Chrestman live close to City Hall, so we will be here for sure to man the phones and continue working through the storm.
Of course if there is an emergency, dial 911. The non-emergency County Dispatch Center number is 918-465-2161. Call City Hall at 918-465-5361. Contact the Police Department at 918-465-5371.
Stay safe, stay warm, look after the elderly and your pets.
