KEDDO (Kiamichi Economic Development District of Oklahoma) Area Agency on Aging (AAA) has scheduled a Public Hearing to review the updated Area Plan on Aging for fixcal years 2011-2014. The Public Hearing will convene Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 10:00am at 1002 Highway 2 North, in the KEDDO Conference Room. The Area Plan sets goals and objectives for fulfilling the priority needs of the elderly and for completing the requirements of the Older Americans Act, which is the federal mandate under which the AAA provides services.
NOTES: 1. KEDDO is a handicap accessible facility. 2. Interpreter services will be made available upon advance request.

The Choctaw Nation Youth Advisory Board and Wilburton Recycling Program have united and registered to conduct an event for the American National Recycling Day Program on November 17, 2012. The combined group will work together to sort through and delete the mounds of recycled material that have been recently collected. The sorted material will be bundled and sold which will add income to the City's budget, a much welcome benefit. The YABBERS, under the direction of Ms. Nicole Norris, will receive the benefit of time added to their Community Service hours. Roy's Cardinal Food has generously donated lunch to all who are working the event.

The staff at the Latimer County Health Department announced they have both the staff and an adequate supply of medication for flu shots to dispense for this season. They welcome people who walk in as no appointment is necessary. They are open for business Monday through Friday, 8 to 12noon, closed for lunch, then open 1 until 4pm. The charge for the shot is free or $25 dollars, depending on several factors. Call 918-465-5673 for more information and your specific cost.
